All thought the article the reader can pick out many examples of logos; reasoning, examples, and evidence. With the evidence it makes our thesis more persuasive, violent video games do provoke bad behavior. Many studies have been done all over North America to prove this point. This issue dates back to the 80’s and is even more relevant today due to the fact games are becoming more violent, graphic, and bloody. Studies show that young children who play violent games growing up tend to be more aggressive than others, especially in school. Eighty percent of boys from a selected high school admitted to playing violent games and one third to one half play for ten hours or more a week. Now, with kids playing video games from a young age all the way through high school, and for long periods of time, one can conclude that violent games help shape aggressive behavior of gamers. Because these gamers spend so much time with different players, seeing and watching, as they control their various violent moves they are more susceptible to copy them, and that they do. With the act of copying these video game characters we cannot blame the recent shooting tragedies on violent video games. Yes they have a part in them but at the same time there are many other factors that lead to it, family, friends, etc. A study was conducted by Chris Barlett, a psychologist at Iowa State, to asses whether violent video games make people violent. Forty-seven undergraduate students were instructed to play either “Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance”, a game that features killing other opponent and is rated mature or another nonviolent game. Each student would play for fifteen minutes, and after fifteen minutes the students were assessed both physically and psychologically by having to distribute hot sauce to another student. What was interesting is that the students pouring were told by the student’s receiving, they did not like hot sauce/ spicy food but had to swallow it. In the end those who played Moral Kombat give much larger portions opposed to those who didn’t. Violent video games cause aggressive behavior and parents should take that into account when purchasing them for children, these games have more of an impact on kids then one may think.
